Who provides Shadow?

Focus with Shadow is provided by JD Anastasio LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. Your product relationship is with the company, not an individual employee or founder in their personal capacity. The company remains responsible for its obligations under applicable law.

Shadow is a browser-based focus aid. It is not a medical device, diagnosis, ADHD treatment, professional advice or a guarantee of productivity. You decide whether its reminders suit your work.

Purchases and payment

Paid access requires a verified account, a valid purchase and an activated browser. Viewing Privacy, Terms or Help never grants app access. Invitations and demonstrations are not paid licenses. Keep access to your purchase email for sign-in and recovery. Only buy if you have legal capacity to agree to these terms, or a parent or authorized guardian arranges the purchase.

Eligible purchases use Stripe Managed Payments, with Stripe acting through Link as merchant of record. The merchant, total price, currency, applicable taxes and payment terms shown at checkout govern the transaction. Link handles transaction-related receipts and payment support; JD Anastasio LLC provides the software and product support. This does not mean Stripe takes over every obligation of our company. The advertised price is $8.99 USD before applicable taxes; checkout displays the final total before you pay. There is no recurring charge. Available markets and payment methods are those supported and offered at checkout, not a promise of availability in every country.

One purchase, one active browser

A lifetime purchase grants a limited, non-exclusive license to use the core product through one verified account and one active browser profile for as long as JD Anastasio LLC operates Focus with Shadow. It is a one-time purchase, not a recurring subscription. It does not transfer ownership of the software or promise that the service will operate forever.

People using that browser on the same computer can keep up to three local camera profiles. These are settings, not extra licenses or separate private histories. Activation is not hardware identification: another browser, private windows or clearing site data can require moving access. A move replaces the previous activation. After a move, further self-service moves have a seven-day interval; lost-access recovery requires verification of the purchase account. Moving access does not copy local settings or history.

You may not resell access, distribute a working copy to others, operate a public shared-access account, remove or bypass licensing, or misrepresent the software as your own. Rights granted by mandatory law, including applicable lawful interoperability and security research rights, are not excluded.

The software, characters, audio and website remain owned by JD Anastasio LLC or their licensors. Third-party software notices apply to their respective components, not to ownership of our application. Do not copy or distribute protected assets beyond your license, impersonate another user, use someone else's payment or account, attack the service, send spam, or attempt unauthorized access. Nothing restricts a right that applicable law requires us to allow.

Camera, compatibility and safe use

Camera analysis runs on your device. Shadow does not upload or record your webcam picture. Sign-in, purchases, license checks and messages you choose to send still use online services, as explained in Privacy. You are responsible for having permission to use your camera and avoiding unintended capture of other people.

Detection depends on lighting, framing, browser support and hardware. It can miss a phone, lose sight of a person or give a false alert. It does not prove where you are looking, whether you are working or how productive you are. Use the guided setup and test a natural working position. Do not use it for safety-critical monitoring, employee surveillance, driving or situations where a missed alert could cause injury.

Sound and animated effects are optional. Start at low volume; stop sound or turn voice alerts off if uncomfortable. Turn flashes off if you are sensitive to them. Camera off and closing the tab stop the camera; Pause stops focus warnings but does not switch the camera off. Shadow never requires you to disable browser or computer security protections.

Local data and updates

Settings, work notes and history stay in this browser and do not automatically sync. Clearing site data can remove them and the browser activation key. People sharing the same browser profile can see the same local work data. Keep important notes elsewhere; the local history is not a backup service.

Online updates load when you reload the app. End your session first if you want to keep its completed work in history; pausing alone does not preserve an active countdown through a reload. Features and compatibility may evolve. A future separately priced add-on is not automatically included in the core-product license. Changes remain subject to the terms of a completed purchase and your mandatory rights.

Refunds and your rights

Request a full refund within 14 days of purchase by contacting us or using the refund route on your Link receipt. You do not need to prove a fault or stop being eligible just because you opened the app. See the Refund policy for the process. Link may provide additional refunds under its own rules; a shorter product policy does not override those rules or the law.

Nothing here removes any applicable mandatory cancellation, refund, digital-content conformity, warranty or other consumer right. Opening the app alone is not treated by us as a blanket waiver of those rights. If a payment is fully refunded or access is lawfully revoked, its associated paid access may end.

What Shadow can and cannot promise

Shadow is a reminder, not a guarantee that you will remain focused. Do not rely on it as your only reminder or system of record. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not warrant uninterrupted availability, error-free detection or a particular work outcome, and we exclude liability for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits caused by reliance on a focus reminder.

These limitations do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable mandatory consumer remedies, fraud, intentional wrongdoing or injury resulting from negligence where such an exclusion is prohibited, or rights and compensation that applicable privacy and data-protection law requires. We do not disclaim responsibility for our own legally enforceable duties. A disclaimer does not replace reasonable security or support.

You are responsible for your own unlawful surveillance, account sharing, unauthorized recordings made outside Shadow, or other misuse. We are not responsible for an independent third party's actions merely because you used Shadow, except where the law makes us responsible for our own acts, omissions or service providers. This clause does not shift our statutory obligations onto you.

For business users only, and only where lawful, our aggregate liability arising from the product is limited to the fees you paid for it. This cap does not apply to the non-excludable liabilities above. Consumer statutory rights are not limited by this business-user cap.

Access, changes and resolving problems

We may restrict access for a refunded payment, payment fraud, unlawful use or a material breach of these terms. Where reasonable and safe, we explain the reason and allow you to contact us before permanent restriction. Immediate restrictions may be necessary to protect accounts or the service. Mistakes can be reviewed through support; this does not remove a lawful refund or consumer remedy.

Delaware law governs these terms only to the extent that applicable mandatory law allows. If you are a consumer, any mandatory protections and court rights available where you live remain in place. We do not require mandatory arbitration or an exclusive foreign court. Contact us first if possible so we can try to resolve a problem; doing so is not a condition for exercising a legal right.

Contact and changes

Use I need help for product, account or privacy questions. The form sends only the reply address, category, message and optional rating you choose. If it says sending is unavailable, no message has been sent. Do not include passwords, payment details or private camera footage.

This page is dated so you can identify the version. Material changes to paid sales terms must be made available before they apply; publishing a new page does not itself retroactively remove a completed purchase or mandatory rights. We retain the accepted terms version with the checkout reference. Material changes are communicated where required; necessary security updates may be provided without delaying protection of the service.
